Make-up Trend: Under Eye Smoky Eye

In the pages of the latest issue of Vogue India, Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan was seen in an innovative application of eye shadow. Rather than sweeping it across her lids, make-up artist Mickey Contractor kept her eyes neutral and dabbed a metallic slate eye shadow under her bottom lashline with a silvery white shadow in her inner corners. It's simple and smoky in an unexpected and undeniably sexy way!

Make-up Trend: Gray-Green Smoky Eyes & Peachy Cheeks

To match her gorgeous emerald green dress, Freida Pinto sported some gray-green smoky eyes at the premiere of boyfriend, Dev Patel's new movie, The Last Airbender. To get her look, blend an olive green eye shadow all over the lids, and then apply a light gray in the creases. "The look was applied so when Freida opened her eyes we see more gray, but when she looks down we see green", said her make-up artist, Jeffrey Paul. And with just a touch of mascara and black eye liner she was red-carpet ready!

UPDATE: For the premiere of The Last Airbender in New York City, Freida Pinto's makeup artist Jeffrey Paul created a sensual but low-key look. "I wanted summery makeup that was warm, inviting and sexy, but still current and modern," he said. "I gave the cheeks a translucent glow with a bright orange cheek stain. It was sheer and shimmer-free, so it enhanced the skin with a dewy, not glittery, finish."

When Bad Make-up Happens To Good People

Isn't it a coincidence that both Aishwarya and Sonam are L'oreal ambasadresses and both had a WTH moment recently. Sonam, at the launch of the latest issue of Filmfare and Aishwarya on the sets of Robot. Sonam's under eye concealer is cakey, and in an unflattering shade which makes her face look ashy and two-toned. On the other hand, Aishwarya looks awful with those stark lines of brush on her cheeks. I love the smokey eyes, but the 80's harsh and unflattering pink blush has to go!

All in all, both of these ladies are stunning, and do not need that much make-up be it in events or movies.

Your opinions?

Make-up Trend: Violet Eye Shadow

If you have a creamy skin tone like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's, a violet shadow may actually be used as a neutral shadow. On the sets of her new movie Robot, her amethyst hue, worn just above the crease, was both subtle and striking. Apply sparingly, and choose a shade with a hint of shimmer to really work the look.

Make-up Trend: Soft Peachy Eyes

"We kept the colors fresh and peachy to create a natural, easy look for Anushka Dandekar to go with the beachy aspect of the shoot," said makeup artist Subhash Vagal. He brushed iridescent nectarine shadow on the upper lid. He then blended it up softly past the socket but not as far as the brow. A swipe of warm taupe shadow on the crease and below the lower lashes added depth and definition. Finally, a thin line of liquid liner along the top lashline finished her look. "The black liner made the green of her eyes really pop," said Subhash.

Hair Trend: Classic French Twist

To get Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's hair at Raavan's London Premiere, her hairstylist took inspiration from icons of the 50's-60's when he created this utterly sophisticated style. Use a styling cream to smooth the hair and prevent frizz before parting it on the side. Then he teased the hair all over and rolled it into a French twist, securing it with bobby pins.

Make-up Trend: Old-School Hollywood Makeup

Looking like a Hollywood-esque diva Vidya Balan graced this month's cover of Andpersand, to recreate her look apply black liquid eyeliner to your upper lids, starting in the inner corners and drawing out. Thicken the line toward the outer edges. Then, using a small pointed brush, dab a tiny amount of champagne-gold powder shadow under the inner third of the eye. Apply 3-4 coats of mascara on your top lashes only. Rim your water line with a white eye pencil and finish the look off with a rose tinted stain stain.

Make-up Trend: The Perfect Lipstick

At the launch of the 3 Idiots Script Book, Kareena Kapoor had fresh, understated makeup—but what makes her look flawless is her impeccably perfect lipcolor. To make sure your lipstick goes on evenly and stays put, use lip liner as a basecoat. If you're wearing a light hue, like Kareena, try a nude liner, which won't muddy your lipstick. Finish with a swipe of sheer balm or lip gloss for a touch shine.

Make-up Trend: Perfect Mascara-ed Lashes

At the French Open 2010, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's lush, voluminous lashes caught everyone's attention. To get your mascara just right, consider adding a lash primer to your routine. The conditioning formulas have a dual-effect—they amp up the volume of your lashes and assure that your mascara stays put.

Make-up Trend: Warm Pink Lip Gloss

On the latest issue of GQ India, Barbara Mori chose a warm pink gloss to accentuate her dark smoky eyes. If you're wearing a cool toned bikini, choose a lip color in the same family, but not the same shade. The effect is a sophisticated, tonal blend—not a matchy matchy mess.

On the latest issue of Harper's Bazaar India, Nethra's skin glistened and looked perfectly poised. To replicate the look, add a pinch of pearlescent powder to your daily moisturizer. Apply as usual for healthy looking skin with a subtle incandescence.

Make-up Trend: Kohl-Rimmed Peepers

In her latest movie Raajneeti, Katrina Kaif shows off some simple and sexy kohl-rimmed peepers. If you want to go for this sultry look in the summer months, you have two choices to keep it from melting in the heat: work a dab of eyelid primer along your top and bottom lashline before applying, or set the makeup with a sweep of translucent powder when you're finished. Both techniques will keep your liner right where you want it.
